Tranquility

Yet another from the archives (I did take some photos over the weekend, honest!).

This is from Peveril Point, near Swanage in Dorset. Sunrise in April. I was looking for simplicity - it's a shame about the jet contrails, but it's hard to find anywhere free of them these days. Looking at this again, I wonder if a landscape format would have worked better, perhaps with the inclusion of the rising sun?

I like this as it is. Landscapes in "portrait" mode can work really well as this one does. Also you were dead right NOT to include the sun, it would have probably have created an over bright area that would have been a total distraction. The vapour trails don't bother me at all and the composition is delightful. Nice simple picture that conveys exactly what you intended.

delightful composition and colour to the scene Harv, the vapor trails are fine by me the only thing i would have done would have been to just off set the boulder a tad, but thats only my opinion, great shot matesmile
Harvey Lewis: I know, I know. Rule of thirds...I was starting to struggle because the sun was really up and I'd run out of ND filters to stack up on the lens. I gues I wasn't thinking straight that early in the morning!

This really works for me, Harv. Stunning capture with such fabulous lighting, and shadow from the rock. Brilliant

Harvey Lewis: Thanks for your kind words. I'd love to go back and spend some more time here. The diversity of locations around Swanage is great.
